I Tried Everyday Dose Mushroom Coffee for Over a Month to See If It Could Help My Slump

I’ve always been a work-hard, play-hard kind of person. In high school, I took all AP classes, played a year-round sport, worked a part-time job, and held leadership positions in clubs, so I got used to constant chaos and only getting 4–6 hours of sleep a night.

College was no exception: With a sorority, professional fraternity, 2 jobs, and a tough major, the go-go-go never ended. My adult responsibilities are even more time-consuming and mentally exhausting. I’ve always consumed a lot of caffeine for the focus and energy I need to get through the day, but it hasn’t felt like enough lately.

I’ve been feeling more than fatigued or under-caffeinated. I can’t pinpoint specifics, but something is just off. I know if I go to the doctor, they’ll gaslight me into thinking it’s stress (iykyk 🙄), but I know it’s more than that, and something has to change.

A friend recently tagged me in a post that described the not-so-nice side effects of consuming coffee. Things I hadn’t even thought about, like restlessness, tremors, and even withdrawal symptoms like nausea and fatigue were possible. But honestly? Some days, the thought of coffee was the only reason I wanted to get out of bed, so I refused to give it up. That’s when I started looking into mushroom coffee.

But I know myself, and I won’t force something down if I don’t like the taste, no matter how good the benefits are. Thousands of reviews positioned Everyday Dose as the best-tasting mushroom coffee, so that’s what I ordered.

EVERYDAY DOSE

A Smarter Start to the Day

Made with our favorite functional ingredients

Unlock the power of chaga, L-theanine, lion’s mane, and collagen protein for a coffee that won’t leave you jittery or wired.

Weeks 1 & 2

The reviews were pretty spot on: Everyday Dose definitely tasted good. There wasn’t a single note of mushroom, earth, or dirt. In fact, it just tastes like a lighter version of my normal coffee, with a bit of chocolatey aftertaste.

Despite liking the taste, the first few days were rough, to be honest. Everyday Dose’s Coffee+ only has 45mg of caffeine, which is a big departure from the 120–170mg I was getting from my old coffee.

I felt more tired than usual, which I knew was due to caffeine withdrawals and purging all the crap from my old coffee, but that didn’t necessarily make it any easier to deal with. Results require consistency, though, so I kept drinking it.

Thankfully, around day 4 or 5, I started to see a noticeable decrease in my anxiety. My hands weren’t as shaky, I wasn’t constantly sweaty, and while I was enjoying my morning cup of coffee, I didn’t feel as chained or dependent on it as I used to.

I used to think the “buzz” I got from caffeine meant I was focused, but now I see that it was just anxiety. I was experiencing actual benefits in focus from the lion’s mane and L-theanine, but without the jitters and anxiety. By week two, I was able to spend more time in a relaxed state, and even my Oura ring noticed the differences.

Week 3

I was traveling for work this week and was extra thankful for how easy it was to make my Everyday Dose.

It can be made iced or hot, and with milk or water. You can even mix it into protein shakes or smoothies, but I prefer it as just an iced coffee.

I was able to bring my frother and powder with me, so I didn’t have to worry about using the coffeemaker in my room or the hassle of going out to get a $7 coffee.

Unlike other powdered mixes, there’s no sediment stuck at the bottom of the cup after blending, so I was able to froth and go.

I also started to see steadier energy levels. After waking up for an early morning flight, I used to grab a second cup on the plane, then knock out for a nap the rest of the afternoon.

Thanks to Dose, I was able to use the time after my flight to explore the area instead of sleeping the day away.

Week 4

Coffee used to seriously destroy my stomach. I had tried it with dairy-free creamer, no creamer, iced, hot, you name it. Nothing could stop the rumbling and bloating that came almost immediately upon my first sip. With Dose, I didn’t have to run to the bathroom after finishing my cup. My stomach wasn’t rumbling all day and I wasn’t experiencing the bloating or discomfort that I used to either.

During week 4, it was also time for my second shipment. I enjoyed the Mild Coffee+ but wanted a bit more caffeine, so I was able to easily swap to the Coffee+ Medium roast.

Week 5

Caffeine can stay in your system for up to 12 hours, so if you’re struggling to sleep at night, the issue may lie with your afternoon pick-me-up. At least, it did for me.

I’ve been falling asleep faster and my sleep has felt more restorative since I started drinking Dose. Besides the more moderate dosage of caffeine, the chaga can help boost natural melatonin levels, while L-theanine has mood-boosting properties that can improve sleep too.

Week 6

Going strong into week 6, I wasn’t missing my old coffee. I can’t believe I drank something that did absolutely nothing for me for so long!

I’ve not only seen improvements in my focus, sleep, and stress, but also shinier hair and glowier skin from the collagen protein.

Things that I didn’t even know would or could be affected by the kind of coffee I drank are rapidly improving.
