I Swapped Resolutions for Results and Tried Nutrafol Women for Hair Growth

I’ve never really taken great care of my hair. Not only did I grow up during the peak of the Wet2Dry straightener, but I also did competitive cheer and bartended through college, loading my hair with pounds of hairspray and teasing it to the high heavens.
Plus, as a natural blonde unable to cope with my hair darkening with age, I’ve put far too much bleach in it, too. I shouldn’t have been shocked, in my mid-20s of all times, when I started to struggle with hair thinning. The damage finally caught up to me, but I refused to accept it.
This wasn’t something a simple resolution to reduce heat or deep conditioning could help. I traded in my faded pillowcase for a silk one and ate my body weight in fish, nuts, and eggs. I even dealt with the sensory overload of scalp oiling and rice water. Nada. Zilch. It was time to bring in the big guns, so I moved on to supplements.
I’m getting married in 2026 and I want everything to be perfect — including my hair. Between an engagement photoshoot, bridal shower, and wedding portraits, I want to feel confident about the way my hair looks when I capture memories that I’ll want to look back on for the rest of my life. But in its current state, I’m feeling anything but.
I realized that if I wanted to see real changes, I needed a routine that could address key root causes. Of course I had heard of Nutrafol. I mean, who hasn’t? My dermatologist had recommended it to me in the past, but I’m not the best at sticking to a routine, so I had brushed it off. It’s definitely an investment, but I had already spent a ton on products that didn’t even work, so I figured I would give their Hair Growth Nutraceuticals a shot. Nutrafol leads with science and takes a drug-free approach to hair health, so it takes around 3-6 months of taking their Hair Growth Nutraceuticals consistently to see results.
I’m the worst at being consistent with this stuff, so I decided to track my progress and give Nutrafol Women a full 6 months. I’m 4 months in, and I must admit I’m shocked at the change I’ve seen…
Month 1
Apparently hair thinning can come from multiple root causes. I try to eat balanced meals most of the time, and while I am under a lot of stress at work, I didn’t think it would lead to thinning hair. Since I had no clue what specifically was causing my hair thinning, I needed something that could address more than one root cause.
Nutrafol Hair Growth Nutraceuticals target six key root causes of hair thinning — hormones, stress, lifestyle, metabolism, nutrition, and aging — so theoretically, it could work for someone like me who couldn’t pinpoint a cause. They have a few different formulas, as well as scalp care products, but I was pretty set on the Nutrafol Women supplement.
I was eager to get started, but taking 4 capsules a day — with a meal — was a big adjustment. Usually I throw back a cup of coffee as soon as I wake up and call it breakfast, but taking the capsules with food helps with nutrient absorption, so that’s what I did.
I wasn’t expecting to see any results for a while, but I felt like I was on the right track.
Month 2
At the start of month 2, I was struggling to stay on track. But I knew that consistency was the key to seeing thicker, fuller hair, so I turned my hair health routine into more of a self-care ritual.
I got a cute organizer for my daily servings, and kept it in the kitchen so it would be a visible reminder. I also took an insane number of pictures of my hair so that when I started seeing results, I could look back and compare.
My second month of Nutrafol Women came during the beginning of Q4, a notoriously busy time for me every year, but I was feeling less stressed. Even before you see physical changes, the bioavailable ingredients in Nutrafol Women are working under the surface to address root causes of hair thinning.
Nutrafol’s Hair Growth Nutraceuticals are NSF Contents Certified, meaning they were independently tested by a third-party to ensure the ingredients listed on the bottle are what’s actually in the product, ensuring consistent quality and safety.
I was excited for my hair to feel stronger and for visibly less shedding, so I stuck with it.
Month 3
After my third month was when I saw the most change. My hairbrush wasn’t filling up as quickly.
I felt like I could run my fingers through my strands without dislodging a handful of hair, and I even got a compliment from my stylist about how healthy my hair was looking.
I saw some shorter hairs pop up around my temple and was worried it was breakage — but I think it’s actually my baby hairs growing out. Nutrafol Hair Growth Nutraceuticals have 17 clinical trials using multiple measurements; in a clinical study of women taking Nutrafol Women, 90% of women saw improvement in their hair after 6 months.* So I know I need to keep being consistent if I want to see the best results.
The full benefits haven’t even kicked in yet. I upped my subscription to a 3-month supply so I could keep staying consistent, and I even saved 15%.
Month 4
I started the New Year with my established hair growth routine and continued taking my capsules daily. I had my engagement photos coming up, and though I used to be mortified to wear my hair up due to thin spots and breakage, I found myself practicing updos and feeling confident thanks to the growth I was seeing.
In the past, taking my hair out of a ponytail or bun would take strands of hair out with it. I can tell that my hair is getting stronger since I’m not seeing hair wrapped around my hair ties.
I feel more confident wearing my hair down now, too. I’m seeing less breakage, which means my hair looks and feels fuller since the length is consistent.
I’m excited to keep seeing results and I’m glad I was patient in the beginning and stuck with Nutrafol. With my bridal shower approaching soon, I’m feeling more excited than anxious about how my hair looks.
